Beat the Cold Winter Snap with Panache

Beat the Cold Winter Snap with Panache

With temperatures dipping to below zero this week, most of us are dreading what to wear to the workplace.  So how do fashionistas keep warm in freezing weather conditions without jeopardising on style?

The trick is simple; keep warm and layer up under a stylish jumper; ditch your high heels and don’t forget to wear a hat, gloves and a snuggly woolly scarf.

Here are our editor’s top winter essentials’ picks available to buy from our Luxury Fashion Marketplace:

Marni’s navy cotton-blend crew-neck sweater with frilly accents and playful colour, has a slender silhouette that’s heightened by crocheted panels of navy, yellow, red and green, and is further enhanced by a voluminous tonal blue, white, and brown ruffled trim. Style yours with a high-waisted midi skirt for a playful take on sophisticated dressing, or with a pair of fitted trousers for comfort and practicality.

Balenciaga elevates classic chelsea boots with gleaming gold-tone studs this season. This sleek black leather pair is made in Italy with traditional oxford-brogue perforations and elasticated side panels for comfort, and set on a small stacked wooden heel for a durable wear. Wear them to the workplace instead of the usual heels and keep your feet warm and safe in the snow.

Cheer yourself up with these charming Bruno Carlo smiley black gloves.  These cuties will help yo survive the winter blues and keep your fingers tucked away from the wet and cold weather.

Finally, finish off the look with this elegant hat by Parisian milliner Maison Michel. This classic ‘Virginie’ fedora is made from rich dark-emerald rabbit-felt finished with a tonal grosgrain ribbon. It’s detailed with an enamelled double ‘M’ plaque and an internal band for a snug fit.

Catwalk Trends at Affordable Prices

Whether you’re mad about the latest fashion trends or simply follow fashion for the sake of it, wearing a catwalk look for a fraction of the price is something most of us fashionistas would like to keep well hidden under our belts.  Only couple of weeks ago while holidaying in Spain I had someone come up to me and comment on my lovely D&G ruffle top (in other words my Red Herring ruffle top which I bought from Debenhams for a happy sum of £22.)  To my surprise I shamefully blabbed about how I purchased my lovely (D&G) top from Milan couple of months earlier and walked off trying to keep a straight face while my youngest daughter was insisting that the top I wore, was bought from Debenhams and not from Milan; “mummy you bought your top when we went shopping together before our holidays remember?”

I know, I know, I should have told the truth and not gone around by fabricating a story about my D&G lookalike top; but who can blame me for being so vain by not admitting the simple truth about my £22 Debenhams top?

I guess my attitude on that hot and sunny afternoon in Spain sums up the fashion world in one action.

“Your clothes are there to make you feel good about yourself and if possible not to break your bank balance, so next time you think of heading off to the shops to buy that gorgeous Valentino, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Chanel, Marc Jacobs must have pair of shoes or dress, think again; a lookalike bargain might be waiting for you just around the corner!”
