On Thursday the 25th of November, The majestic backdrop of Battersea Power Station played host to one of this season’s most eagerly anticipated red carpet events and welcomed a dazzling array of international celebrities, royalty, TV personalities, business stalwarts, and music stars on the red carpet, uniting to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home – one of UK’s most loved institutions. They included artists such as Amanda Holden, Alexandra Burke and rock legends Roger Daltrey and Roger Taylor as well as comedienne Catherine Tate and charming actor Anthony Head!
Also in attendance were musicians such as Shayne Ward, DJ Ironik and Sue-Elise Nash, business figures such as Jeremy Hackett and Gianluca Brozetti, CEO, Roberto Cavalli, and personalities such as models Janice Dickenson, Liz Fuller and Miss Great Britain finalists.
Who other than Battersea could line such a special route for the top glitterati with a… sea of dogs?
Guests were entertained at the milestone event by the evening’s incredible host, actress and TV personality Amanda Holden in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. Chart-topping pop sensation and X Factor winner Alexandra Burke wowed the crowd as part of an unforgettable entertainment line-up alongside Brian May CBE, the defining sound of Queen, who joined forces with fellow Queen member Roger Taylor, The Who’s Roger Daltrey CBE and female lead vocalist of Meat Loaf Patti Russo. Together with Ryan Molloy of the critically acclaimed and Olivier Award winning musical The Jersey Boys, they made up Spike Edney’s All Star Band.
Alexandra Burke rallied guests onto the dance floor with renditions of her Number 1 selling singles followed by diva anthems by Patti Russo. Ryan Molloy took to the stage after and ABBA’s tribute band FABBA proved they were the “dancing queens” of the night as they introduced a touch of 70s nostalgia. The piece de resistance was provided by Brian May CBE, Roger Taylor and Roger Daltrey CBE, some of the most flamboyant and charismatic performers to ever grace the stage, as they rocked the audience into the early hours. Audiences were enthralled as they revisited the iconic era of rock, from classics such as “Jailhouse Rock” to some of the most defining rock anthems of the 70s and 80s such as “I Want It All” and “We Will Rock You”.
Battersea’s distinguished guests were also treated to a stunning performance from former cast members of one of the capital’s most successful musical shows – Phantom of the Opera – as the surprise package on the night.
