Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge one year on

Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge one year on

This weekend last year, the whole nation was gripped by the Royal Wedding fever of the decade.  Sporting a new fresh attitude by mixing high street fashion with designer labels, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge has become the darling of the fashion industry and the talk of fashion bloggers around the globe.

Stilorama Magazine looks back at Kate Middleton’s fashion moments since her Royal Wedding last year, and here are some of our favourites photo call style crushes:

The Red Coat fashion statement: Catherine showed off her sense of style when she visited the UNICEF Emergency Supply Centre on November 2, 2011 in Denmark; she wore a beautiful long red coat, which she teamed up with a dark belt and pair of suede boots.

The Cream Fitted Dress fashion statement: When Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge visited the Royal Marsden Hospital with her husband in September of last year, her choice of outfit was a gorgeous cream dress by Amanda Wakeley, which she teamed up with a pair of LK Bennett heels and a matching coloured clutch bag.

The Casual Blazer and red jeans fashion statement: Catherine knows how to rock a casual style, pictured here before meeting the GB Hockey Team at the Riverside Arena in the Olympic Park on March 15, 2012, wearing a blazer from Emilio Pucci and a pair of skinny red jeans, which she accessorised with the Team GB Official Supporter’s Scarf.

The Brown Coat fashion statement: When Catherine visited Liverpool, she looked radiant and confident all wrapped up in an elegant brown Hobbs coat, and a pair of trendy black boots.

The mum’s recycled blue dress fashion statement: The Duchess of Cambridge was once again at the centre of the media attention last month, when she surprised us all by wearing one of her mother’s dresses at the opening of the Treehouse Children’s Hospice.  We can’t help by applaud her poise in pulling off one of her mum’s elegant blue Reiss dresses which she wore in 2008 at Ascot.

The red carpet lace gown fashion statement: Catherine outshone everyone when she attended on the 8th of January 2012 the UK premiere of War House at the Odeon Leicester Square, she looked stunning on the red carpet wearing a beautiful Alice by Temperley black lace gown.

Gucci's Art Deco Fashion Trend at High Street Prices

Inspired by the Great Gatsby and by the silver screen era, Art Deco has once again surfaced into this season’s elegant party wardrobe.  Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2012 saw the re-birth of glamorous Art Deco fashion with gorgeous evening frocks embellished with tassel trims, feminine feathers and golden metallic fabrics.

The Art Deco look is high maintenance and expensive, but as always the high street is a shopping haven for great designer copies.  Here are some of my favourite High street Art Deco inspired clothes and accessories by Oasis and Miss Selfridge available on our luxury fashion marketplace.

Oasis Hot Fix Dress price £55

Oasis Embellished Flapper Dress price £75

Red Carpet Style Crush Scarlett Johansson’s Little Black Dress

Red Carpet Style Crush Scarlett Johansson's Little Black Dress

Scarlett Johansson can’t seem to do wrong when it comes to gracing the red carpet, and yesterday was on exception.  Pictured here arriving at the premiere of Marvel Studios’ ‘The Avengers’ at the El Capitan Theatre, Scarlett wore a black number by Versace.  She showed off her feminine curves, teaming her little black designer dress with a stunning pair of strappy stilettos by Giuseppe Zanotti.

To copy Scarlett Johansson’s LBD look without breaking the bank balance I suggest this Dorothy Perkins bodycon black dress price £40, I also like these strappy black sandals also from Dorothy Perkins price £38 both available from www.dorothyperkins.com

To create fuller lips I recommend one of my favourite lip glosses Clinique Full Potential Lips Plump And Shine price £14.50 www.clinique.co.uk

And finally to complete the look add some bling with these Mood by Jon Richard  White square cubic zirconia stud earrings price £6 and Jon Richard Crystal Vintage Cocktail Ring price £10 both available from www.debenhams.com

Spring 2012 Makeup Beauty Trends

Spring 2012 Makeup Beauty Trends

Spring 2012 makeup trends are a display between bright bold matt colours and a nude metallic bronze palette.

Red and fuchsia lips were a big hit with catwalk designers like Jean Paul Gaultier, Jason Wu, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Rick Owen, Nicole Farhi and Anna Sui.  To achieve the perfect red pout, I recommend Sisley Hydrating long lasting lipstick L33 red shade price £31 available from www.sisley-cosmetics.com

This season also sees a surge towards the classic eyeliner flick inspired by the 1950s feminine era. Catwalk designers like Dolce and Gabbana, Jonathan Saunders, Matthew Williamson , Richard Nicoll, Maris Schwab  and Giorgio Armani had plenty of cats’ eyes on show, with makeup artists using more innovative ways for applying liquid eyeliners in various shades and colours like, black, brown and grey.  To adapt the sexy eyeliner flick look try Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Zero–Smudge Liquid Eyeliner price £19 available from www.esteelauder.co.uk

Smoky metallic eyes and nude lips are also big this spring, with catwalk designers like Emilio Pucci and Roberto Cavalli re-inventing the smoky eyes look by adopting some great metallic touches.  One of my favourite metallic eye shadows is Bobbi Brown’s metallic long wear cream eye shadow price £17 available from www.bobbibrown.co.uk. I also recommend this fantastic MAC nude amorous lipstick price £13.20 available from www.maccosmetics.co.uk

And finally bronze cheeks are also a huge hit for spring 2012.  We’ve seen a lot of glowing sporty cheeks on many catwalks like Robert Mouret, DKNY, Aquascutum and Christopher Kane.  I love this Sensai by Kanebo designing duo bronzing powder price £35 available from www.selfridges.com

The Modern Lovers Guide to Paris

The Modern Lovers Guide To Paris

Strolling hand-in-hand along the banks of the Seine, sitting in the Place de Vosges, dining in bistros by candlelight.  A tried and tested formula for lovers? Yes. But if the idea of staring goggle-eyed at your beloved from the top of the Eiffel tower is enough to send you straight back to the Gare du Nord, read on, for there is far more to this city for lovers than clichés and Camembert.

ROAM

For starters, swap strolls along the Seine for the effortless charm of St. Germain. Once the famous stomping ground of Samuel Beckett and Sartre, the spirit of cool lives on in this district, with tourists, locals, and students alike queuing out the door of the bustling bistros for a taste of that historic, left bank charm.

Next swap the view from the Eiffel Tower for the rooftop of the Galerie Lafayette on boulevard Haussmann. This historic department store is a Parisian fashion institution, with it’s phenomenal glass dome roof, and ornate Art Nouveau staircase. But the view from the inside is nothing compared to the one from the eighth floor. The roof garden offers panoramic views across the city, looking South across to the Eiffel Tower, and North up to the Sacré-Cœur.

EAT

With candlelit cafes and fine-dining bistros on every corner, eating out in Paris is a delectable feast of flavours. And, of course, romance is never far from the menu. But you can swap close-knit corners and whispered sweet-nothings for casual elegance and classic cuisine.

Try Velvet – tucked away on a dimly lit street behind the Champs Élysées, you could easily walk right by it. Food is courtesy of super-chefs Alain Parodi and Armand Crespo, and their work is every bit as beautiful to look at as it is to taste. Dishes are a deliberate fusion of classic and contemporary, all with a Mediterranean twist. Décor is modern, and stylish but the food draws in the crowds – book a table in one of the booths for a more intimate experience.

STAY

From the Louvre you can walk through the Tuileries garden to the Place de Concord, onto the Champs Élysées, and up to the Arc de Triomphe. But while you marvel at the perfect symmetry and pick your way through the bustle, this street hides something just as spectacular behind closed doors. The red carpet is a teaser as to what lies behind the arched doorway. It is the newly refurbished Paris Marriott. And it is every bit as luxurious as the designer stores that flank it.

By day, the lounge bar is filled with suits, sampling the afternoon tea. But come 6pm, it becomes a destination of apéritifs. It is a short walk to the restaurant, where the food, courtesy of chef Jeremy Touzelet, is decadent, yet elegant. Expect classic French cuisine; fois gras, lobster ravioli, and steak so mouth-wateringly tender you could only be in France.

A cliché? Perhaps, but if you’re going to indulge in one, let it be this.

Spring 2012 Trend Watch

Get seriously flirty this spring by adding a splash of funky fuchsia to your wardrobe.  This DKNY look is one of my favourite bold pink looks for this season; it’s young, playful and truly bright.  Fuchsia is also a great team player when it comes to mixing and matching with other bold and bright shades of orange and red, as well as darker colours like navy, purple and of course black.

For accessories I suggest you tone down with some contrasting pieces like a snakeskin handbag and a black stylish pair of shoes.
