April 2012 Horoscopes

Aries:      A Direct action brings Planet Mercury close to you this month. This is a great time to work with that wardrobe and to make it your point of contact as it carries the vibrations of your own subtle energies. Beg borrow or steal to make the most of fashion good sense to elevate your mood and show others that you are not to be messed with!

Taurus:     Let changes influence your dynamic statements right now and be bold and beautiful because you can be! Time wasted on the past is getting you nowhere, and Planets Neptune and Uranus bring you down somewhat to reality by the very nature of emphasising the current pressures you would do well to escape from.

Gemini:     Venus the Goddess of Love and Seduction is present throughout the month ahead bringing Love and Light onto a situation that demands your attention. Usually known to flit around the Cosmos, Venus is intent on bringing love straight to your door. Dress to Kill, and feel the buzz as something rather wonderful begins to happen!

Cancer:    Really now is the time to clear the decks. Throw away what you know you have to and slimline your life by being absolutely ruthless. That way you can love more what is left. Spurred on by negative energies of a grounding Pluto, and a mighty Uranus, it is time to take a good look at yourself and show everyone what you are more than capable of!

Leo:    You are centre stage this month as someone is testing you every which way and you win hands down. Being in the spotlight makes you feel special, and so connect with your body with some necessary pampering and you will feel the difference. Get out the little black dress midmonth when attention really kicks off and cool is the word.

Virgo:   Hey! You’ve come a long way. It hasn’t been easy but then nothing beats the positive energy you are choosing to show and the determination that has brought you to this level. As a warring Mars enters into placid Virgo this month there could be fireworks, so be prepared to fight for what you hold dear and just give it sparkle and style because you can.

Libra:   Wily and inspiring Saturn calls the shots this month and begs you live it up a little! Go Glam, and have fun creating a style that’s uniquely yours and worthy of your best assets. Forget playing safe; and hiding unnecessarily behind the frumpiest frock, show what you really all about, and know where this can take you. Your balance will not be compromised.

Scorpio:    Very much a question of fire and ice this month as you cautiously step out to meet the World and see what it has to offer you. Be unafraid to make the changes you know you must, and walk away from conflicts with your head held high. Someone has been watching you for all the right reasons just lately, but they have to learn beauty is more than skin deep.

Sagittarius:    Cosmic energies connect to bring you a wider view as you find yourself shedding that protective layer and just being yourself for a change. Splashing out should put a smile on that face as you reward yourself for a job you have done well. Jupiter smiles down on your good fortune and luck and as you splurge so you feel so good and there’s more, much more to come for you.

Capricorn:  Plutonian energy may be hard to work with, but against all odds you have moved on, but you are certainly not running away. Those boots are made for walking, so reward yourself with some indulgent footwear as you enter into spring and a vibrant colour palette appears on the horizon. Then plan your trip, because an escape helps you to kill two birds with one stone.

Aquarius:    As the truth seeker of the horoscope be honest with yourself. Go look in the mirror and what do you see? Same old same old and it is time to ring the changes. With maybe more dash than cash on the menu, this isn’t a real reason to hold back, and your new concept of yourself has to fit just right, so make sure that it does you favours in every way.

Pisces:     Dreamy and romantic you have to take strides to show others the real you and express your innermost emotions any which way that you can. Wear your heart on your sleeve, and be yourself, though you may not know how others really see you. Neptune brings about great changes and is having a strong influence on all you have yet to do!

Stylish First Ladies Michelle Obama and Samantha Cameron

Fashion editors have been wowed by first ladies Michelle Obama and Samantha Cameron’s sense of style and flawless elegance.  Both first ladies looked picture perfect yesterday night at the White House state dinner honouring the visit of Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife.

It seems that Michelle Obama and Samantha’s Cameron love for beautiful gowns has no boundary, with both ladies opting for blue evening gowns.  Mrs Obama wore a gorgeous dress by the designer Marchesa which she accessories with a stunning necklace by Tom Binns, while Mrs Cameron showed off her figure with a stunning number by Alessandra Rich.

Both first ladies were also pictured on separate occasions wearing complementing outfits when they visited an olympic themed children event on Tuesday the 13th of March.  Mrs Obama wore a yellow cardigan with white embroidery which she teamed up with a flattering pair of white trousers.  Her guest Mrs Cameron wore a bright fuchsia top with a pair of straight-cut navy cropped trousers.

The first ladies were also pictured dressed in elegant outfits yesterday at the official arrival ceremony at the South Lawn of the White House.  Samantha Cameron wore a dashing block colour outfit, while Michelle Obama opted for a chic pastel suit.

Copy Kim Kardashian's Coolest Trend The Mint Blazer

TV personality Kim Kardashian stopped by a local petrol station in California on March 9, 2012 to refuel her white Ferrari, and also signed an autograph for a fan before hitting the road again! The reality TV star stepped out of her Ferrari in LA looking like a million dollars in an ALC Blazer With Black Contrast Lapels in one of the season’s hottest colours: Mint.   Her Spring-perfect tuxedo jacket has a sculpted shape, slim lapels, and two front flap pockets. Sky-high Christian Louboutin Lassagi Suede Platform Slingbacks and skintight black Siwy Drainpipe Dark Skinny Jeans completed her look.

We have to admit we are a little bit in love with Kim’s mint-green blazer, and applaud her for working this season’s hot pastel trend.

Louis Vuitton AW2012 Catwalk Review

Louis Vuitton AW2012 Catwalk Review

Theatre has come to town with Louis Vuitton AW2012 magnificent collection of beautiful outfits inspired by a long gone golden age of romantic railways.  His costume drama style fashion show was a breathtaking fashion stunt, with a steam engine as its main point and models showcasing Louis Vuitton AW2012 collection being accompanied by porters carrying gorgeous handbags and Louis Vuitton cases.  Only Marc Jacobs could come up with such a spectacular show, and only he can celebrate what Louis Vuitton as a brand really stands for: High Class and High Quality.

How many of these beautiful creations will actually make it to our autumn/winter wardrobe is yet to be seen, but with the quality of craftsmanship on offer and with the beautiful fabrics and tailoring it is difficult not to fall in love with such a romantic collection.

I for one applaud Marc Jacobs’ genius and absolute sense of design and creativity and his ability to deliver a great show for his adoring audience of fashion savvies and celebrities alike.

Wear Teal this March to help Beat Ovarian Cancer

Wear Teal this March to help Beat Ovarian Cancer

March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and OPI and Ovacome are calling on all women to join celebrities Carol Vorderman, Terri Dwyer, Sam Siddall and their patron Jenny Agutter in getting behind their Teal Tips campaign this March, to mark Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month 2012.

The initiative, with Lena White and OPI’s Teal the Cows Come Home varnish, is aimed at raising awareness of ovarian cancer and some invaluable funds for Ovacome.

Teal is to ovarian cancer as pink is to breast cancer. The idea is that by wearing such a striking colour, women will start talking about the disease and the BEAT ovarian cancer acronym of the main symptoms:

B is for bloating that does not come and go;

E is for eating less and feeling fuller quicker;

A is for abdominal pain and

T is for telling your GP.

To find out more about our BEAT campaign to help women and GPs recognise the signs and symptoms, please click here.)

We can all do our bit by buying  OPI’s Teal the Cows Come Home for £11.    Its supplier Lena White is donating £1 to Ovacome for every bottle sold. Contact 01923 240010 or visit the website to order online.

OPI and Ovacome are hoping that women around the UK will hold fundraising teal nail painting manicure parties. Some salons selling OPI nail polish are considering holding manicure parties on their premises, painting nails teal at a discounted rate or to loan out a beautician to manicure gatherings in members’ homes. Contact Ovacome’s Sonia Vig on 020 7299 6650 or emails.vig@ovacome.org.uk  if you would like to approach your local salon selling OPI varnish about holding a fundraising event for the charity.

Ovacome’s chief executive Louise Bayne is thrilled that Teal Tips is getting such a warm reception and is urging members to get behind the celebrity activity. “We are delighted to be running Teal Tips for the second year running to raise awareness during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. It’s a fun idea which young and older women have embraced, giving them a reason to be a bit daring and wear this on trend shade. They can look fantastic for a very good cause.”
