Betty Jackson’s love affair with the fashion industry is equally matched by the British public’s affection for her wonderful contribution to the fashion world. Her autumn collection seems to have taken its inspiration from the early 1980s with brown fabrics, long coats and jackets worn over short trousers and long wool skirts and dresses while shoulder pads got bigger and softer this season. The whole collection had an individualist feel to it, with minimalist grown-up touches. It felt as if Ms Jackson tried to portray in her designs and in her choice of fabrics and accessories a sense of understanding of the world’s financial climate, her clothes are the perfect example of things to come; individual, simple and fun.
